Scrapbook, 1779-1800, 1935-1938.

Scrapbook volume of correspondence, memorabilia and original historical documents (1779-1800; 1935-1938) relating to the career of American statesman John Jay, assembled by his descendent John Jay Ide of New York City. Historical documents, 1779-1800, collected by Ide include items of official correspondence, appointments, and commissions written or signed by John Jay in his capacity as Governor of New York, jurist, congressional leader, or United States Chief Justice. Additionally included are numerous printed and original engraved portraits of John Jay. Twentieth century materials, 1935-1938, include news clippings, photostats of historical documents, as well as Ide's correspondence with Henry Haye, Mayor of Versaille, and others, and principally relate to Ide's research on the identifying the location of the Hotel d'York where the Paris Treaty was signed in 1783.
